Types of Grow Lights

Incandescent Lights

In general, this kind of light is used as the traditional type of the lighting at home, and it has been used for so many years. Although it could provide us the warm lighting in the darkness, it is not a wonderful choice for growing plants, since it couldn’t provide the components of the light which all the plants need to grow healthily. However, if you are going to grow only foliage plants, the incandescent lights would be enough.

Fluorescent Lights

Compared with the incandescent lights, fluorescent grow lights are typically twice as efficient as incandescent bulbs. What’s more, they can also be used for longer time, about 20,000 hours, which is about 25 times longer than those incandescent bulbs. Generally, the incandescent lights are much better than the fluorescent lights. However, thanks to the technology, there have been more and more options of the fluorescent lights that you could choose for different kinds of plants. There is no need to say that the fluorescent lights won’t provide heat as much as the incandescent lights do, so you could place the plants closer to the light source.

LED Growing Lights VS HPS Grow Lights

Nowadays, there are more and more people would love to choose the LED growing lights for indoor growing plants, and you might wonderful that if the LED growing lights are much better than the HPS lights. So, there are things between these two kinds of growing lights that I want to show you. The light intensities of these two kinds of lights are almost even, but HPS grow lights seem to generate more heat than the LED. In view of that, it might be great to use HPS grow lights in winter time. As for the yield, the result shows that the LED plants grow light could achieve more, which is about three times than the HPS lights.
