Currently,
video security systems are no longer reserved only for device security
companies. Everyone can at home, with some technical skills, install a
surveillance camera. But how these cameras work?
Two
main types of surveillance cameras
Analog
cameras: These cameras are connected by a coaxial cable to a TV or monitor,
where the images are displayed. Send data streams (sweep) to a storage device
(digital recorder).
IP
cameras: IP camera allow a connection to a computer network (connected to the
Internet) or via Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi (wireless). The filmed images can be
recorded and consulted in real time from a PC or smartphone via Internet, like
the Zmodo
ZP-IBH13-W security camera.
Using
an IP camera
The
installation and use of these cameras are developed in four stages:
Connect
the surveillance camera to the router: the use of a cable is required at this
stage.
Find
and assign the IP address of the camera (this step requires a password,
available on the computer sold).
Place
the camera in a strategic location.
Once
the router is synchronized with the camera, the image stream is available
online via a website (password protected access).
The
technical elements of a surveillance camera
Image
quality: For IP cameras, the image quality is determined by the display
resolution (1600 x 1200 pixels = very high resolution).
The
sensor: the essential element, located behind the lens, which can capture
light.
The
brightness (lux) Brightness lux is expressed in (between 0, total darkness and
50000 lux).
The
goal: varies according to the desired viewing angle.
The
different categories of surveillance camera
Infrared
cameras: at night, using light emitting diodes (LEDs) placed around the lens to
detect infrared brightness and retransmit images in white and black. Like the Zmodo
wireless camera, those infrared cameras have night vision for you.
Cameras
for day and night: automatically adapt to day mode or night mode depending on
the level of brightness.
Discrete dome shaped chamber, motorized domes (possible rotations), spy
cameras (that blend into the scenery).
